I enlisted into the service and served in Europe as a Black Beret'. We actually were the only military unit who had a peacetime mission assigned by Congress of watching the East/West German Border prior to Ronald Reagan and Michail Gorbachov tore the border down. The unit was inspected by George Patton Jr. once and during the general's Inspection he wore his father's White Pearl Handled 45's which caught my attention. As he stood in front of me he noticed that my eyes were traveling down to see his father's 45's and he said, 'Don't even think about it' and with that I stood once more at attention witout falter. It was pretty cool to see that kind of history.
